May is Mental Health Awareness Month
May 17, 2021
May is National Mental Health Awareness Month and California Alliance of Caregivers wants to stress the importance of caring for your mental health just as much as you care about your physical health. Just as there are exercises and healthy habits for the body, there are also exercises and healthy habits for the mind. Check out the following resources:
- Thought Record Worksheet
- Daily Mood Tracker
- Self-Care Checkup
- Exercise and Mental Health
- Mental Health Management Bingo
- 7 Mental Health Exercises to Reduce Anxiety and Depression
As we continue to fight against the stigma of mental illness, educating ourselves and others will be a big portion of the battle. Here are some resources:
- Mental Illness: Myths and Reality
- Dear Allison: Explaining Mental Illness to Young Readers – Emma Northup Flinn
- Medical Myths: Mental Health Misconceptions
- Passing on Emotional Intelligence: Teaching Children
Remember to be kind to yourself. You are seen. You are heard. You are not alone.
