California Alliance of Caregivers represents the voice of caregivers to promote the well-being of children in foster care. We have heard that an overwhelming need of most caregivers is "Respite." For the last several years, we have been working to increase the Respite options for caregivers around the state. Our work has included a collaborative training for county staff to learn about a successful respite program: Creating & Implementing Respite Programs: Video Recording & Presentation Slides. And, we have co-hosted a Caregiver Support Webinar on Respite, Alternative Care, & Babysitting: HERE. The Budget Act of 2022/23 and 2023/24 included funding for counties to use for Respite programs (READ MORE). Many counties are now launching Respite programs! Now, we will be collaborating with youth to hear how Respite programs can be youth-friendly, supportive, and include youth voice. We would love to hear from you in a survey on Respite.
