Creating, Implementing & Funding Respite Programs

A webinar was hosted by the County Welfare Director’s Association (CWDA), the California Social Work Education Center (CalSWEC), and California Alliance of Caregivers to share how Santa Clara County created and implemented a respite program.
You may contact Gilbert Murillo (Santa Clara County) and Matt Cammann (Seneca Family of Agencies) if you have further questions about implemention.
All County Letter 23-02 & County Fiscal Letter 22/23-42 describe how the Flexible Family Supports for Home-based Foster Care can be spent, including on respite programs. These letters describe the first year of this funding in the 2022/2023 budget. The 2023/24 budget included the second half of the Flexible Family Supports for Home-Based Foster Care funding.
In additional to county resources, here is a Caregiver Support Webinar for Resource Parents: Respite Care, Babysitting, and Alternative Care.
