Over 2.5 million children and youth are living in kinship care, either formally or informally. By age 18, 1 in 11 youth will have lived with a relative at some point in their childhood. Kinship caregivers can face another layer of challenges when parenting for youth needing out of home care. CAC is committed to connecting kinship caregivers (formal and informal) to information, resources, advocacy, and support so that children and youth can stay with family or friends whenever possible.

Do you need help navigating the Special Education system or requesting an Education Assessment for your youth? Family Empowerment Centers (FECs) provide training and information to families of children and young adults with disabilities, between the ages of 3 and 22. FECs offer specialized training, peer-to-peer support, information and referral services. They aim to assist parents to better understand their child’s educational and developmental needs, effectively communicate with service providers, and serve as a resource for the IEP process. | CA Foster Youth Tax Credit |
Caregivers and adult supporters of foster youth age 18-25 are encourage to help foster youth apply for and claim their foster youth tax credit of up to $1083.
